Priced at close to $13 million, a custom build called the “Sweptail” quickly became the most expensive new car ever created, according to Telegraph.
Although it isn’t expensive compared to some of the most expensive cars ever, the one-off coupe has a price tag that few could ever afford. Director of Design for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Giles Taylor, said, “It’s a Rolls-Royce designed and hand-tailored to fit a specific customer.” The customer desired a two-door Rolls-Royce, with a glass roof.
The car was developed over the course of four years, after a customer expressed a desire for a one-of-a-kind motor car. The customer was hoping for a car inspired by the “classic” Rolls-Royces that were popular in the 1920’s and 1930’s and Rolls-Royce certainly made it happen.
The car’s signature feature: a single piece glass roof that fades into the car’s rear end. The signature feature is the main focus of the car, and your eye is quickly drawn to the long glass “roof.”
The car was revealed on Saturday, May 27 at the Concorso d’Eleganza in Italy which is where guests and visitors are able to view 50 historic cars built between the 1920’s and 1980’s.
