However, it looks like Mercedes-Benz may have outdone itself with the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class Saloon, which is gaining an exceptional amount of attention.
The car is already being referred to as the most aerodynamic new car in the world. Due to the combination of a small hood and extended rear overhang, the A-Class Saloon has a Cd drag factor of just 0.22, which means it has the lowest drag of any vehicle in the world right now. The previous aerodynamic record was held by Mercedes-Benz’s CLA Coupe, which is the model the A-Class Saloon is essentially replacing.
Scheduled to make its official debut at the Paris Motor Show in the fall, the A-Class Saloon is drawing comparisons to other beautifully designed luxury vehicles like the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and the Audi A3 Saloon. It’ll come with either a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder gas engine or a 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine. It is expected to have a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Inside, A-Class Saloon owners will be treated to Mercedes-Benz’s new MBUX infotainment system that features a touchscreen and voice recognition.
When the A-Class Saloon is finally available to the public, it’ll become the most affordable four-door vehicle offered through Mercedes-Benz. While it’ll likely be slightly more expensive than competitors, Mercedes-Benz is hoping that people are blown away by the aerodynamics of the car, the performance it puts forth, and the roomy interior.
