The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, which is likely the final variant of the seventh-generation Corvette, is here.
It comes jam-packed with 755 horsepower and is already being hailed as the best Corvette ever in some circles. Here’s what you need to know about it.
It features Chevy’s new LT5 motor.
The first thing those who drive this car will fall in love with is the LT5 motor that Chevy designed specifically for the ZR1. It’s what makes the ZR1 and its supercharged V8 engine capable of generating 755 horsepower. The 6.2-liter LT5 includes a number of upgrades from the LT4 motor like a 95-millimeter throttle body as well as a new oiling system and upgraded crankshaft.
It can go from 0 to 60 in less than 3 seconds.
Thanks to the LT5 motor and supercharged engine, the ZR1 has absolutely no problem going from 0 to 60 in a hurry. It’s capable of achieving the feat in just 2.9 seconds and can also complete a quarter mile in just 10.6 seconds while traveling more than 130 miles per hour.
It has world-class handling and brakes.
With all of the power that’s packed under the hood of the ZR1, it was important for Chevrolet to outfit it with world-class handling and brakes. That’s exactly what they did, allowing ZR1 drivers to go from 60 to 0 in only about 90 feet. The ZR1 is also designed to handle corners admirably due to its braking and steering.
Starting at just over $122,000 for the ZR1 “High Wing” model and just over $132,000 for the ZR1 “Low Wing” model, the ZR1 is exactly what enthusiasts were looking for from the C7 setting the bar high for the upcoming C8.
