Automakers have updated the Acura MDX and the 2018 version has a much sportier appearance and is equipped with plenty of technology.
Although the luxury SUV has been Acura’s best-seller, they have updated it again. The 2018 Acura MDX now has a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The standard version comes with front-wheel drive but all-wheel drive models are available for an additional $2,000 on all trim levels. The front-drive MDX is getting about 19 to 20 miles per gallon in the city and about 27 miles per gallon on the highway.
The interior of the SUV was also updated, complete with a dual-screen user interface and a large touchscreen built into the dashboard which can access Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. The new touchscreen system is expected to be 30 percent faster than previous systems.
Adding additional safety features was also a focus. The 2018 Acura MDX now has additional safety technology including lane departure, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking system, and more.
One major change that came with the release of the 2018 model is the color options available. Basque Red is now available for base technology models and San Marino Red is now available for advanced trims. The red color options were intended to make the SUV appear sportier than previous versions.
The 2018 Acura MDX is expected to be released at some point this winter, starting at about $45,175 which is about $150 higher than last year’s model. See a full pricing list here.
